Nostalgia at Active Global Senior Care Centre

Active Global is a community of specialised caregivers for specific needs in Singapore, Hong Kong and Shang Hai. One of the many services they provide is affordable professional home care solution for the elderly.

Active Global commissioned Mural Lingo to paint murals at both their senior care centres at Ghim Moh Edge and Telok Blangah ParcView. Their intention was to make the space appear vibrant and welcoming for the elderly. With that goal in mind, they curated the rooms to be engaging and filled with equipment that kept the seniors entertained and healthy.

The overall theme of the murals was nostalgia from the 1940s to 1990s of Singapore. We painted landscapes of the city together with realistic portraits of people next to installations of notable artefacts from that era. The design was based on research done on the architecture then and the story of Sang Nila Utama, with inspiration from the George Town murals.

While times are fast changing in our city where buildings are reconstructed too frequently, our aim with this theme was to bring them back to the old days to reminisce and relive their fondest memories.
